Douchebaggery as an Art Form: V S Naipaul Excels!

V.S. Naipaul has been a constant source of irritation and disgust for me for a very long time. I know these are really harsh, one-sided and disproportionate words to use on an individual, that too a literary figure like Naipaul. However, the man has no qualms shooting his mouth off, and I am just returning his favor!

So, Vee Ess Naipaul, first of all, dude, not loving your name... Hard to pronounce, and harder to type.

Second, I had to read your hot-air for a couple of Indian Writing papers in college, and I fell asleep in every class. I mean EVERY. CLASS. Man, why can't you be even a degree more interesting than you are?! Seriously, is that too much to ask? For crying out loud, you get published  for this crap.. at least make an effort!!

Thirdly, dear fellow, I get it - you don't like India.  You can't stand the dirty water running down streets, you detest the hypocrites, and you are sure that all Indians have 'slave mentality'. That's fine. Now move on.... You have not lived here. In fact, you don't belong here. Just because you have Indian ancestry in your blood, does not mean you get to say mean things about us. Go say something mean about someone else for a change, huh?! Get over yourself, seriously!

Fourth in a series of rants that is pure catharsis right now, is the fact that Mr.Naipaul, you, in general, are a douchebag. Wikipedia says so (dear reader, go directly to the 'Personal Life' section. That's the good (bad) stuff!), your former friend reiterates, and you sir, most certainly proved it!

Dear Reader, here is the entire text of the last article that I have mentioned. This one appeared in Guardian (a UK newspaper) and I simply couldn't believe what I was reading!

VS Naipaul finds no woman writer his literary match – not even Jane Austen

VS Naipaul, no stranger to literary spats and rows, has done it again. This time, the winner of the Nobel prize for literature has lashed out at female authors, saying there is no woman writer whom he considers his equal – and singling out Jane Austen for particular criticism.

In an interview at the Royal Geographic Society on Tuesday about his career, Naipaul, who has been described as the "greatest living writer of English prose", was asked if he considered any woman writer his literary match. He replied: "I don't think so." Of Austen he said he "couldn't possibly share her sentimental ambitions, her sentimental sense of the world".
He felt that women writers were "quite different". He said: "I read a piece of writing and within a paragraph or two I know whether it is by a woman or not. I think [it is] unequal to me."
The author, who was born in Trinidad, said this was because of women's "sentimentality, the narrow view of the world". "And inevitably for a woman, she is not a complete master of a house, so that comes over in her writing too," he said.
He added: "My publisher, who was so good as a taster and editor, when she became a writer, lo and behold, it was all this feminine tosh. I don't mean this in any unkind way."
The criticism from the author is unsurprising. Naipaul is no stranger to criticism. In the past Naipaul has criticised India's top female authors for their "banality" on the topic he is best known for writing about, the legacy of British colonialism.
He also had a long-running feud with US travel writer and author Paul Theroux.
Their 30-year friendship came to a sudden end, after Theroux discovered that a book he gave Naipaul had been put on sale for £916. The comments were dismissed by the Writers Guild of Great Britain, which said it would not "waste its breath on them". Literary journalist Alex Clark said: "Is he really saying that writers such as Hilary Mantel, AS Byatt, Iris Murdoch are sentimental or write feminine tosh?"
Literary critic Helen Brown described them as "arrogant, attention-seeking".He should heed the words of George Eliot – a female writer – whose works have had a far more profound impact on world culture than his."

Mr.Naipaul, women are awesome writers too! Just because you can't control your envy, and can't fade off gracefully, does not mean you belittle others. In your own words, "Take it on the chin, and move on."

Yep. He does have a general air of douche-ness around him!

Defeating the Purpose of the Teddy Bear!

Okay, this morning, when I read this article, I essentially felt a sense of hopelessness in this world, and all I can say right now is, "Heck, I've seen it all. I should just roll over and die now! It can't get worse than this!"

"Stop. What are you ranting about?" You ask.

Well, this...THIS!!! Go ahead and read the article if you have the morbid fascination and the stomach for this sort of thing....

If, for some reason, people take pride in this sort of thing, then this image is from Metro.co.uk.

For the love of all that is dear to mankind, where the heck is this coming from?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I thought cuddly toys are just for little kids to snuggle with! The teddy-bear-lover in me feels violated when soft toys are incorporated into horror movies. It's even worse when children become horror objects in these movies. That "Chucky's Back" crap was the worst...or so I foolishly thought! Now this!

Already, I feel nervous that Debbie is taking her teddy-bear too seriously - talking to him all the time about her school, reading him her books and singing him her rhymes, and the worst yet, crying to him when she gets told off by one of us!! I HATE that!

And, can I just say, that I HATE, DETEST, and am totally and irrevocably repelled by Mr. BEAN! I mean, what is the deal with that jerk? People, please, please, for the sake of the mental stability of your children when they reach their 40s, don't let them watch Mr.Bean...PLEASE!

That show is utter crap! All that nudity, innuendos, and the sheer stupidity and crassness of the man. And I am not even talking about the real show! I am talking about the animated series that is meant for little kids!!!And he has taught my daughter how to talk to her teddy bear.

If you see this man, you have my permission to shoot at sight! With a gun, and real bullets.

You are probably now asking me, "Woman, why don't you just turn off the television, and be done with it? Stop the whining already!" Well, I am working on it. I really am. I feel ashamed with myself for letting things get this far....You see, this show comes around Debbie's dinner time, and she will not let one morsel of food get past her lips if she is not watching this crappy show. And after I deal with 30 minutes of copious tears, the worst case of 3-yr-old tantrums, and the highest pitched screaming in the world, I usually cave in, because I just don't want my already skinny child to go to bed on an empty stomach....

Sigh....

So, this post, which started as a rant on cuddly toys with mental disorders has come down to a plea for help to all moms on the internet. Someone, please advice me on how I can wean my daughter off her soft toy (and her incessant thumb-sucking, while you're at it!), and this stupid Mr.Bean animated series.

I'm waiting for your advice in the comments section. HELP, someone!

Of Morning Walks and Monologues...

I walk to work everyday (the most misleading thing I have said all day!). And when I say 'walk to work', I don't mean a brisk 1-mile trudge that keeps me healthy and fit, and looking 10 years younger. Nope. The daily morning walk to work takes me a measly 8 minutes!! Totally not beneficial.

So, anyway, I walk 'briskly' every morning, and I'm usually having a happy, interesting conversation with someone....usually myself :(

And this is how it goes...

"Okay, hon, stepping out right now...you're already late...you have 8 minutes to clear an 8 minute distance....Are you going to do this? Hmm...we'll see...walking. walking. walking. step. step. step. looking good baby! Walk, walk, walk....

OOOUUUCChhhhh! What was that?...Something went 'click' in my knee! Okay, ignore it, keep going...Limp, limp, limp....ok, better now...walk, walk, walk...

Oh cripes. There's the Cake shop across the street! Mmmm...nice smells...yummy smells...

(looking at watch) Do I have time to step in for a quick purchase? Okay, Do I NEED the extra calories?? No, and No...for God's Sake Jane, NO!! Geez!

Okay, walk, walk, walk, walk...TRIP! Shucks! Who put the stones in the way?!?!

Okay, nothing happened...no one saw you hon..keep walking, keep walking...you have time...(looking at watch) OH CRAP! I have only 3.5 minutes...where did all the time go, darn it?!?!?!

Okay, keep walking...no ditch that...I think it's time you started running! Oaky, run, run, run..."Run, Forrest, Ruuunnn!" Okay, grow up...Do you really need the "Forrest Gump reference now?!?!

Ooh, nice new shirts on display at the Men's Clothing store on the way!...Hmph! Ignore it! Stupid stuck up clothing store...probably too expensive! Sour grapes...blah, blah...

Oh good, finally at the office building...(looking at watch [for the umpteenth time, even though it does NOT help!!]) Oh cripes...1 more minute...

Okay hon, now you have to climb 4, Four, FOUR floors...Sheesh people, lifts were invented for a reason, you know..Anyways, it's the only exercise you get all day!! so, CLIMB already!!

Climb, climb, climb, no..scratch that...RUN, run, run...

What the...people walking up the steps are getting there faster than me! Shucks.

Run, run, run...GASP, GASP, GASP!! Run, run, drag your feet, stomp, stomp.....crawl, crawl, craaaaawwlllll......Wheeeezz, wheeezz, wheeezzz....cough, cough!

(Drumroll and trumpets blaring) I MADE IT, I MADE IT...YAAAAY!!!! And heck, I have 5 minutes left on the clock!!!!!

"WHAT?!?!?!?!?", you ask?

Well, this is precisely why I set every, and I mean EVERY clock 10 minutes ahead, so that I think I start out 10 minutes early, and half way through I think I'll be on time, and then I assume that I am already 5 minutes late...and PANIC...and when I reach, It's a nice surprise to know I am 5 minutes early!!!

Now ain't that wonderful...fine and dandy!!........................................

.................Aw, shucks....sometimes I don't even recognize myself....!

Somebody bring back the 20 year old Jane, please!

What I wanna be...

What I really am...

HELLPPP!!!!!

Skinny Kids Can Be Healthy Too

My husband and I were waiting at the bus stop, and an old lady who we've never met before came up to us and said, "Don't you ...
